Curriculum vitae


C. Billinis was qualified as a Veterinarian from the School of Veterinary Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1993. In 1998 he was awarded a PhD thesis in “Microbiology & Infectious Diseases” at the same University. European Veterinary Specialisation in Zoological Medicine in the subspecialty of Wildlife Population Health (ECZM). He is a Professor and Director of the Laboratory of Microbiology and Parasitology of the Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Thessaly. Vice Rector of Finance, Planning and Development of the University of Thessaly, Dean of the Department of Public and One Health, past-Head of the School of Health Sciences and past-Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Thessaly. Successful supervision of 6 PhD theses. Grant holder in 20 research projects and being a member of the coordinating team of the EU funded project “WildTech” (€ 6,000,000) for the development of molecular (Microarray technology) and serological tests (high through-put serological screening) for the detection of pathogens that are transmitted from wildlife to domestic animals and humans. He has published 9 chapters, 118 articles in international journals (with >3,100 citations, h-index: 31) and 129 abstracts in conference proceedings. Conference organizer of 13th European Wildlife Diseases association conference. Member of the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIHs) in the field of Digital Health entitled "Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Industry Transformation through Artificial Intelligence Digital Services (Health-Hub)". The HEALTH HUB has been selected as a designated European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH), eligible to be funded by the Digital Europe Programme 2021 – 2027 as a member of the EDIHs Network.
