Research

• Design, optimisation, and development of protein kinase inhibitor drugs in various therapeutic areas, particularly oncology. Τarget proteins include proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), cyclin depentend kinase 2 (CDK2), glycogen synthase kinase GSK3.
• Development of small molecule inhibitors using X-ray crystallography together with modelling as a tool to assist and guide synthetic medicinal chemistry.
• Purification and characterisation of proteins for drug discovery mainly applying chromatographic techniques and biophysical method like enzyme kinetics, fluorescence spectroscopy, light scattering etc.

Details about the research activities of the Department can be found herewith.
